Hi,
Before you jump into this week, think about the last conversation that stayed with you.
Was it something someone said? Or the feeling that they were actually listening?
We spend a lot of time getting ready to speak, finding the right words and making our point. And sometimes, while we’re doing all that, we miss what the other person is trying to tell us.
For me, that can look like one of my kids telling me something while my mind is still on what I’m building. Or my wife talking to me while I’m already thinking about the next thing I need to do. I can hear the words and still miss what they’re trying to share.
This week, try staying with a conversation a little longer. Ask one more question. Give the answer room. You don’t have to fill every quiet moment.
There’s a lot we can learn from the people right in front of us, whether we’re at work, at home, or building something together.
Let’s give ourselves a chance to hear it.
Have a great week. Let’s keep building.
